The chance to give him a warm hug then realise I’ve wrapped my arm around the shoulder he recently had 5 bullets shot in.
Awkwardly turning it into a casual pat on the shoulder. Before welcoming him and his family into my home as my excited Labrador runs up to greet him with my husbands undies.
I was still given the opportunity to paint this heroic man’s portrait for the Archibald.
The softly spoken humble, ambience of the ‘Bondi Hero’ was a moment I’d never forget until I got flustered and started apologising for the rough sketches I drew of him.
Today with my hair unbrushed and a grumpy father driving me into the city I dropped my artwork off at the @artgalleryofnsw
