A large, brightly coloured mural painted across the side of a brick building, featuring the words “HOPE FOR CHEETHAM” in bold, light-blue lettering. The background is filled with orange, red and teal leaf shapes, with smaller words like “hope,” “grow,” and “love” written inside some leaves. Houses and rooftops are visible behind the building.
A close-up view of the “Hope for Cheetham” mural being painted. The wall shows large teal and white letters surrounded by bright orange, yellow and blue leaf shapes. On the left, part of a raised scissor lift is visible. In the foreground, a person wearing an orange high‑visibility vest stands facing the mural, holding painting supplies.
A section of the mural showing a brick wall on the left and turquoise-painted wall on the right. In orange hand-painted text, the words “Workshop Participants:” are followed by a list of names: Plamedie, Paul, Tanzila, Mia, Heaven, Grace, Muhammad, Faith, Keisha, Natanya, Irevine, Pauline, and Sydney. Bright orange and yellow leaf shapes decorate the background.
A close-up of the top corner of the mural on a building wall. The background is painted dark teal with several bright orange and red leaf shapes. One large red leaf near the roof edge has the word “HOPE” painted in yellow with small decorative stars. The roof tiles and trim of the building are visible at the top of the image.

What do you get when you bring together a local school, community leaders and @oskarwitha.k?

Answer: Hope for Cheetham, a new mural transforming an overlooked corner in Manchester into an inspiring landmark. The mural is inspired by a local youth charity of the same name.

This is Art for Estates, a collaboration with @lloydsbankingroup and @globalstreetart. A community-led initiative that brings bold, large-scale art to the heart of social housing estates.

It’s part of Lloyds Banking Group’s overall commitment to the UK’s social housing sector, where they’ve provided over £22 billion in new finance* to the sector since 2018.

*Through commercial lending and deal facilitation

Absolutely love your work!! Intrigued, do you create what someone specifically wants or get involved in “what could be”?

We ❤️❤️❤️ it and were genuinely thrilled the community recognised the project! If you go visit it you can see lots of lovely details from the community. @hopeforcheetham is actually not one charity, but a community-led partnership of lots of different local charities and groups in the area aiming to ensure young people are empowered and supported by the entire community to achieve their hopes and ambitions. Many thanks for your support for the project and to partners @manchestercitycouncil @youthendowfund @iwill_movement
