Are you making these mistakes while speaking in English?
A very common one:
“I’m looking forward to meet you” ❌
Here’s the fix 👇
When “to” is used as a preposition, it is always followed by a verb + ing, not the base form.
So it becomes:
“I’m looking forward to meeting you” ✅
Why?
Because here, “to” is not part of an infinitive, it’s a preposition—and prepositions are always followed by -ing forms.
Some more examples:
• I’m used to waking up early.
• She is committed to learning new skills.
• They are dedicated to improving their work.

Awesome! Makes sense! To followed by a Verb will end in ING 👍🩵

Oh, I'm glad you've addressed this. I don't know what this latest trend is. Even well educated, highly placed people say "I'm looking forward to meet you. " 🙄🤦

Now your turn 👇🏻 Can you think of more sentences where “to” is a preposition and the verb takes -ing?
