There’s a new baby in town! 🤍

We got to meet baby Sophie today! Sophie is a newborn calf who was just rescued by our friends at @farmanimalrefuge. I love her so, so much. Those teef!!!

Did you know that cows only produce milk when they have a baby? Cows lactate for the same reason humans (and cats and dogs and wombats) do: to feed their newborns. It’s something a lot of people never realize. Sadly, cows are forced to give birth and then have their babies taken away so that humans can drink the milk that was only created for the calf. It’s such a weird and sad practice and is why I do not consume any dairy. How can I rescue orphaned baby animals, and then support an industry with a primary purpose of creating more orphans? None for me, thanks!

Sophie isn’t a typical “dairy cow.”She is the kind of cow who would typically be used in a rodeo (do not get me started on that) and eventually killed to be eaten. But Sophie was born with a slight congenital issue with her limbs, which the cow breeder didn’t want to deal with, and that ended up being good luck for her. Now that she found her way into the loving arms of our friends, she is already healing and expected to thrive.

Here are a bunch of cute pics and videos of us meeting Sophie, plus some bonus shots (including Joshy Poshy, who you know if you have followed us for a long time.) So proud to be a supporter & friend of @farmanimalrefuge!

P.S. We will have kittens soon, I promise! I have been home for like 3 days and am still getting adjusted, but I’m sure we’ll have some new little faces around here any day now.

somewhere between moments 🧡
