We cannot keep pretending that underfunding maternity care saves the UK money, because it simply DOES NOT. 👀 £1.3 billion in medical negligence payouts 👀 £50,000+ per woman after a severe birth tear 👀 Burnt out midwives quitting, then the system needing to pay to recruit and train replacements!!! It costs us SO much more in the long run. And that’s what makes me (as an affected parent) so frustrated. The cost to my family AND the system from my care has been truly profound. So I wanted to talk about it - I’ve pulled together 5 examples of the hidden costs of underfunding maternity care, and honestly, they’re rather shocking. 🫣 1: Not investing in mental health support during pregnancy and after birth. 2: Women not getting the care and support they need, when they need it. 3: Midwives being stretched too thin, with too few staff on shift. 4: Unsafe facilities that aren’t fit for purpose. 5: The enormous cost of negligence claims when things go wrong. These are the consequences of not investing properly in maternity care. And this is only the beginning of the conversation. We cannot keep treating maternity care as though it’s an area where we can afford to cut corners. It should be a basic right to give birth in a safe environment, with the right support, properly staffed wards and care that meets her needs - not a luxury. If you feel brave enough please share the cost to your family below... xxxx #birthtrauma #maternitycare #womenshealth #midwifes #nhs

The beautiful new documentary film KARL is streaming now. It was a huge honor to write original score for this film on the life & times of the iconic creative force Karl Lagerfeld. The 25 song soundtrack is up on my Bandcamp today as well as anywhere you listen. It’s my 11th solo album & lands somewhere between the sonic worlds of Windswept, Digital Rain & beyond. The soundtrack also features bonus tracks from Desire, Omar S, The Hacker & Chromatics. Enjoy the ride!
