There’s a reason a lot of companies would rather employees keep their salaries to themselves.

When pay stays private, it’s much harder to notice when a new hire is earning more than someone who’s been there longer, or even more than the person training them.

Those gaps often come down to negotiation and timing, since new hires are usually paid based on today’s market while existing employees get smaller yearly raises.

Data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta has consistently shown that people who switch jobs see bigger pay growth than those who stay put.

In the US, most private sector workers are legally protected when discussing pay with coworkers under the National Labor Relations Act, and in the UK, contract terms can’t stop workers from sharing pay details to check for pay discrimination.

More places are also passing pay transparency laws, from US states requiring salary ranges in job listings to new rules across the European Union.

Ik heb mijn zaak verkocht en al mijn coaching stopgezet (for a while).

Joe Mixon posted his condolences following Sunday's tragic plane crash in Florida, which killed nine people, revealing that he had flown on the exact same aircraft last month with the same two pilots who lost their lives.

“Absolutely devastated by yesterday’s tragic plane crash in Florida and the loss of all nine lives. I flew on that exact aircraft last month with those same two pilots. They were incredible professionals and genuinely wonderful people.”

“Hearing the young woman’s story and learning about the bright future she had ahead of her makes it even more heartbreaking that her life was cut so short. 💔”

“My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to the grieving families and loved ones of everyone on board. A tragic reminder of how fragile life is. Love on your loved ones while you can, because you never know what tomorrow may bring.”
