GO ALL IN LONDON 🇬🇧
Part 2: Dear Karan, You started with Salman. I started with apprehension. Putting Salman on that sofa was either a stroke of genius or a very expensive gamble. Turns out, you knew exactly what you were doing. I was so fucking pleasantly surprised. The maturity with which you two men handled the floor, was such a stark reminder of how evolving with time is not such a bad thing after all. And while Salman may be right, the energy was a bit low but the vibe - it was so set, Bro. An ease that comes from having lived long enough to stop trying so hard. Salman reminded me of why I had life sized posters of him on my walls as a teenager. He seems to be in a different mind frame altogether, that makes him adorable again. Perhaps a different phase of life. Perhaps a different relationship with himself. Whatever it was, I enjoyed it. And it made me want more. More of a show that grows up without growing old. One that evolves without losing its mischief. One that recognises that conversations can be fun without being frivolous and meaningful without becoming solemn. Heck, I wouldn’t mind the occasional sex talk or even “what’s this Kalinda Karan, it’s Kalindi” with those cute faces. But you’re our entry to talk show Oscars. Our answer to JIMMY FALLON and GRAHAM NORTON. So no more shit about quitting! You cannot spend years grooming us to be Peeping Toms on the lives of the famous and then suddenly shut the door. Withdrawal symptoms kaun sambhalega? You know what I would really like though - some unusual pairings. Bring in the war veterans. People who still have a lot to stay. Imagine a conversation that doesn’t need a scandal to be memorable. Because that, Karan, is what I have always wanted from your show. Not access to celebrity. Access to conversation. And perhaps, for a small-town girl whose mind always wanted to travel farther than her circumstances allowed, that has been the real magic all along. And nine seasons later, I have only one request: My social circle is still a tad boring and I haven’t finished eavesdropping on yours. Now my lovely readers : Let me know if I missed someone. Whom would you like to see interviewed on his couch?
