🦇🖤🥀 What if everything you thought you knew about Dracula was only half the story?

Thank you @suzyapprovedbooktours and @karenessex for this lovely book.

I’ve always been fascinated by Dracula, so getting to experience this familiar tale through Mina’s eyes was something I couldn’t resist. And Karen Essex did such a wonderful job with this retelling!

Dracula in Love is dark, seductive, mysterious, and dripping with gothic atmosphere. Basically, everything I love in a story like this.
What I enjoyed most was watching Mina’s transformation. She begins as a rather innocent young woman with her future all planned out, but a mysterious stranger has other ideas. And let’s just say her life is never quite the same.
The tension, the strange dreams, the forbidden attraction, and that constant feeling that something bigger was going on had me completely intrigued. I especially loved the moments between Mina and the Count. Their connection was easily one of my favorite parts!

The pacing slowed down a bit though once everything started falling into place, I was completely invested and wanted a lot more.
Still, this was such a captivating, atmospheric read. I loved seeing Mina find her voice and discovering a completely different side of a story I’ve known for years.

If you love gothic fiction, complicated characters, dark romance, and a little supernatural mystery, this one is worth picking up!

Are you a fan of Dracula retellings? Or do you prefer your vampires dark, dangerous, and a little mysterious?
Do you enjoy classic stories told from a different character’s perspective?
