Around 70% of rural communities in Tanzania collect plastic waste under trees or not well organized places. In most cases, these collection points are located near residential areas and close to roads. When the wind blows, a large portion of this waste is scattered back onto the roads and surrounding environment, causing repeated pollution and posing health and safety risks.

To address this challenge, Taka Hub has introduced an innovative solution called the Taka Store. The Taka Store is a short-term waste storage facility designed to safely hold both plastic and organic waste before it is transported for proper processing or recycling.
This initiative aims to improve waste management practices by preventing environmental contamination, enhancing cleanliness, and creating a more organized system for waste collection.

The Taka Store is the first project implemented by Taka Hub in Sangasanga village, located in Mvomero District, Morogoro Region. It serves as a pilot model that can be replicated in other rural communities facing similar waste management challenges.
