“Gangsta’s Paradise” is an iconic hip-hop track by Coolio featuring L.V., released in 1995. It exploded worldwide after being featured in the film Dangerous Minds, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, turning it into one of those songs you recognize within two seconds whether you want to or not.

Built on a haunting rework of Stevie Wonder’s Pastime Paradise, the track fuses soulful hooks with gritty rap verses that dive into survival, pressure, and the realities of inner-city life. Coolio’s reflective storytelling paired with L.V.’s unforgettable chorus gave the song a lasting impact, making it one of the defining records of 90s hip-hop and earning him a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance
