I was hesitant to share these images because of what they mean to me but gatekeeping my own heritage doesn’t sit right with me either.

Nigerian diaspora’s are not unique but each individuals experience of being part of one is; being Fulani myself in the British diaspora has connected me with heritage & cultures I otherwise would never have come across if my parents never chose to leave.

Diaspora is a culture in of itself; the children of immigrants is often the connotation but we’re the children of dreamers, the children of sacrifice, the children of pioneers.

for me, heritage will always be more potent than culture however that does not mean that culture is unimportant in what it provides whether North or South 🦅

I hope we all make things that are as rich as the places we come from and the places we travel to!
