For decades, dozens of boat dwellers lived rent free on a bay just north of San Francisco. A few holdouts remained as a deadline loomed to leave the water. Read more at the link in our bio. Video by Livia Albeck-Ripka, Mimi Dwyer, Yasu Tsuji and Lauren Pruitt/The New York Times

President Donald Trump’s diesel deal with Russia is unlikely to significantly reduce fuel prices for truckers and farmers, because the amount that Moscow will supposedly export is very small compared with U.S. and global demand. Since diesel is used to transport a broad range of goods as well as to harvest crops, its rising cost tends to trickle throughout the economy, boosting prices. As the U.S. midterm elections approach in November, Trump faces pressure to address fuel prices due to its impact on inflation. More details at the link in bio.
Hilary Swank is going to be a mom of three! 🀰 Hilary announced that she and husband Philip Schneider are expecting another child with a family dance party. "A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ΌπŸΌπŸ«ΆπŸΌ," she captioned the video. The couple is already parents to twins Aya and Ohm, who she gave birth to in April 2023 after freezing her eggs at age 37. Hilary, who is now 52, opened up about becoming a mother later in life, telling Women's Health last year, "It was the right time for myriad reasons." During her first pregnancy, Hilary also opened up to ET about what it meant to give other women hope that they could still be moms. KEN FRIAR OBE 1934-2026⁣ ⁣ Ken Friar’s Arsenal life spanned an incredible nine decades. In 1945, 11-year-old Ken was playing football with friends outside Highbury when their ball rolled under a car: β€˜Boy what are you doing?’, shouted Arsenal manager George Allison, who summoned Ken over and told him to return the following day. He did just that and was offered a job running messages from the front door to the box office. ⁣ ⁣ Five years later, Arsenal offered him a full-time position as a junior in the box office. He became assistant secretary in 1965 and, after playing a key role in Highbury hosting the world-title fight between Muhammad Ali and Henry Cooper in 1966, Ken became club secretary in 1973 and then managing director in 1983. ⁣ ⁣ Now effectively running the club, Ken presided over the successful George Graham era. Leaving our Highbury home had long been under discussion, with Ken involved in talks that could have led the club to play further afield but in 2000, his vision saw him move into a new role as director responsible for the club’s relocation from Highbury to a new stadium, just a stone’s throw away in Ashburton Grove.⁣ ⁣ His dedication led to the stadium being opened by the Duke of Edinburgh and in 2006 and he was later invited with the squad to visit the Queen at Buckingham Palace to further honour the accomplishment. He was made an OBE for his Services to Football in 2000 and given the Freedom of the Borough of Islington. In 2014 the South Stand Bridge was renamed The Ken Friar Bridge, complete with a statue depicting young Ken outside Highbury. ⁣ ⁣ Stepping down as an executive director in 2020 and appointed life president, Ken will never be forgotten. In 1945, he would sneak down the tunnel to catch a glimpse of his heroes playing on the hallowed Highbury turf, featuring the stars of Herbert Chapman’s great Arsenal sides. Over 90 years later and with the 11th league title of his lifetime secured, he still relished every second of seeing Arsenal players conquer all, putting our name in lights across the world – and we couldn’t have done it without him. ⁣ ⁣ Our thoughts are with Ken Friar’s family and many friends at this difficult time.
