Tonight on Midnight Transmission, I’m bringing you one of the records that made 1999 such a huge year for trance. Veracocha’s Carte Blanche is one I’d expect to find in almost every trance head’s archive.

Behind that name are Ferry Corsten and Vincent de Moor. They made it in Ferry’s bedroom studio at his parents’ house, after spending hours trying to find the hook.

Vincent stepped away for a cigarette while Ferry kept improvising. Then Vincent called across the attic to ask what he’d just heard. Ferry only remembered parts, so they pieced the melody back together between them.

Think about that when the lead opens up. A phrase they had to reconstruct became the part so many of us recognise before the ID appears.

Give that melody the room it deserves tonight.

Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms won the Georgia governor’s race, the Associated Press said. She is the first Black woman to be elected governor in U.S. history.

With 75% of the vote counted, Bottoms, a former Atlanta mayor who later worked in Joe Biden’s White House, had 55.4% of the vote, to 44.6% for Republican Rick Jackson.

Bottoms, 56, ran a campaign focused on rising costs. She promised that she would stand up to President Trump and work to expand Medicaid in Georgia. She slammed Republican Rick Jackson, 72, for praising Trump during the Republican primary, during which Jackson at one point said he wanted to be Trump’s favorite governor.

Democrats are off to a strong start in the midterm election, flipping their first Senate seat of the night in North Carolina and holding seats in Georgia and New Hampshire. Democratic incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff, one of President Trump’s most vocal critics, defeated Republican challenger Mike Collins in Georgia.
