The house is rather clunky, like a grand old lady, and I want to make it feel comfortable in itself.’ Christmas at the north Cotswold home of Gardeners’ World presenter Rachel de Thame is all about comfort. From family gathered around the dining table to the relaxed, light-filled drawing room, the house has been restored by the family one room at a time since 2013, with ease at its heart. Now adorned with fresh pine and fern for the season ahead, Rachel’s approach to decorating for Christmas feels as natural as it is inviting. Tour this historic house in all its jewel-toned finery at the link in bio now.

After 18 months and one full tear-out and rebuild, our ceiling has finally earned the recognition she really deserves. #AD

Faux beams have their place, but before you commit to them, it’s worth asking whether you actually want beams (which lean more rustic) or whether you want something a little more elegant. That’s the difference a coffered ceiling makes. It brings real depth and architecture to a room in a way that feels so much more elegant, and it’s honestly more doable than it looks. If you’re dreaming about adding some character overhead, everything I used from @homedepot is in my Storefront, linked in my bio. You can also comment CEILING and I’ll send the link straight to you so you can start planning your own.
