There’s a different perspective you gain when you’re not in the spotlight—but just behind it.
Working the expo and assisting backstage at the 98th Ohio FFA State Convention gave me the chance to witness the transition of leadership in real time. Not just the moments on stage, but everything that leads up to them—the anticipation, the emotion, the quiet conversations in between.
Watching my friend Claire Loudon be elected State Treasurer was one of those moments that felt bigger than just an announcement. Taking her under my wing her freshman year at Wilmington College and now seeing her step into this role—it’s a reminder of how much growth can happen when people are given the opportunity to lead.
From celebrating friends stepping into new roles to honoring those retiring their jackets, and reconnecting with ExploreAg students along the way—this week was a reflection of what FFA does best: develop people, build connections, and create leaders who are ready for what’s next.
