Apple season is in full swing, and there’s nothing I love more than a homemade caramel apple. The secret to getting the caramel to stick to the apple is to quickly boil your apples in water first. 🍎 A quick dunk in boiling water takes off the waxy coating on store-bought apples, so the caramel grabs on instead of sliding off. With some toffee bits on the bottom, these are a truly delicious fall treat!

Caramel Apples (makes 8)
🍎 8 large tart apples
🥢 8 wooden chopsticks or sticks
🤎 2 cups packed brown sugar
🥛 1 can (300 mL / 14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
🍯 1 cup light corn syrup
🧈 1 cup butter
✨ 2 tsp vanilla extract
🍬 Toffee bits for the bottoms (optional, but highly recommended)

1️⃣ Dip the apples in boiling water for a few seconds to remove the wax. Dry well and let cool.
2️⃣ Push a stick into the bottom of each apple, and line a baking sheet with parchment.
3️⃣ In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stir together the brown sugar, condensed milk, corn syrup and butter.
4️⃣ Bring to a boil, then turn down to medium. Keep stirring constantly until it reaches 248°F (120°C) on a candy thermometer, about 25–30 minutes.
5️⃣ Take it off the heat and stir in the vanilla.
6️⃣ Working quickly, dip and twist each apple to coat, letting the extra drip off.
7️⃣ Roll the bottoms in toffee bits while the caramel is still warm, then set them on the parchment to firm up.

So prefect for a fall weekend! 🍂

In a development that has reignited questions over political consistency, Bengaluru Police have denied permission to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to hold its proposed Tiranga March at Town Hall on Friday, October 16. The decision comes days after Congress leaders defended the right to peaceful protest amid police restrictions on CJP demonstrations in Delhi.

According to India Today, Bengaluru Police rejected the organisers’ request to demonstrate outside Town Hall, directing them instead to Freedom Park, the city’s designated protest venue. Authorities cited Karnataka High Court directions and warned that demonstrations in the central business district could create severe traffic congestion and public safety concerns.

The controversy comes against the backdrop of CJP’s nationwide protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. On October 10, protesters were detained in Delhi after police refused permission for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

The decision has also brought attention to the Congress government’s handling of similar demonstrations in Karnataka. On October 10, Bengaluru Police detained protesters attempting to march towards the state Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Allegations of excessive force prompted Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to seek a report, while Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge promised a review.

Rahul Gandhi, meanwhile, has publicly backed the broader protest movement. On October 12, he described the demonstrations against Gyanesh Kumar as part of a common struggle, regardless of whether they were organised by students, civil society groups or political parties.

However, Bengaluru’s restrictions are not new. The city’s protest regulations designate Freedom Park as the principal demonstration venue, following earlier Karnataka High Court proceedings. The rules also give the police commissioner discretion to designate alternative locations under certain circumstances.

Let’s see how this goes down 😂😂😂
