For #FancyWatchFriday I’m very excited to share some shots of the new @fearswatches Arnos Opera Black which has just launched 🤍🖤

Swipe ->

Taking inspiration from Black-Tie dress code, the dial features a slice of polished black onyx contrasted with a white lacquer centre and of course the company’s classic ‘Fears pipette’ style hands 🤵🏼‍♂️

Thanks to the teams at both @fearswatches and @brassheartweekly for letting me get hands on with this piece 🫶🏻

BTS member @mnijungkook was the main performer at the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, performing the official song “Dreamers” with Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi, surprising everyone. The performance is considered one of the highlights of the event.

He was the first K-pop artist (and first K-pop solo artist) and the first Asian act to appear as a solo headliner at such a ceremony, making history.

@mnijugkook and @bts.bighitofficial are set to headline the second half of the World Cup final on July 19, 2026, joining Shakira as the only artists to perform at the World Cup more than once.

Evrópumót 26’

Mót sem mun fylgja mér út ævina, svo margar góðar minningar og margt sem stóð uppúr.
Rústuðum undanúrslitum og áttum svo ekki okkar besta dag í úrslitum en erum Evrópumeistarar fyrir mér.
Þetta lið er “one of a kind”. Elska þessar stelpur og hefði ekki getað gert þetta án þjálfaranna okkar. Þakklæti efst í huga❤️

10 month update making doubanjiang from scratch

Last winter I started the process of fermenting fava beans to make doubanjiang at home (lots more about doubanjiang on my Substack newsletter, Ugly Pantry). It’s finally peak pepper season, so I am back to finish the process I started. It doesn’t necessarily take a whole year to make this, since the fava beans can be fermented alone for just a month or two. The extra fermentation time allowed the beans to develop more savory characteristics and some meaty brown flavors.

In my research visiting producers in Pixian County (what Champagne is to sparkling wine, but for doubanjiang), I learned that fresh and dried chilis can be used together to control the moisture content and consistency of the final product. Climate and terroir play a huge role in the fermentation process, so I was curious to learn what New York might produce.

I’m planning to let this ferment for another three months before cooking with it.
