Behind the scenes from last week’s interview shoot @francosyard. This adventure has been about understanding why people are drawn to spend more time in the water than on land, and what effect that has on them. I'm so thankful to have so many great ocean sports enthusiasts and figureheads close by who were happy to share their views on patience, control, and flowing with what the ocean throws at them out on the water’s edge. Strong hips help you move with more control. 💪🏽 This step-and-knee-drive exercise challenges the muscles that lift your knee, while the glutes on your standing leg help keep your pelvis steady.

You’re working on hip strength, single-leg balance, and coordination, all useful for walking, running, climbing stairs, and everyday movement.

✅ Keep your core engaged and your standing knee slightly bent.
✅ Lift your knee without leaning back or swinging your leg.
✅ Keep your hips level and control the step back down.
✅ Use a comfortable range of motion—higher isn’t always better.

Try it without a band first. Add a light band when you can keep the same control, extra resistance should challenge your muscles without changing your form.

Start with 2 sets of 8–12 controlled reps per side. Hold onto something for balance if needed, and stop if you feel sharp pain or hip pinching.
