In the wake of a horrific shooting on Halloween night, individuals within the UD community chose to platform hate against Black individuals. BSU will not stand for this.
-
Dealing with a traumatic event on a university campus is hard for everyone, but the additional blame and racism towards Black people adds on an even greater toll for Black students. This hate has no place on UDs campus. DSU should not be in the mouths of these people, Black high schoolers should not be shunned for their existence on a holiday night, and the harm from these comments should not be ignored.
-
BSU demands that the University condemns these comments and reinstates formal DEI and social justice education on campus. It’s clear that it’s needed, for ignorance and hate still fester at this institution.
