yesterday a student asked to learn this piece from 2013 in a private because it was really important to her… when i made this i was 20 years old, working with nothing but pure belief. i tweeted i was making this video, over a 100 people showed up to ML, i bought the floor out of pocket from home depot, glow sticks, flew out the videographers, rehearsed my dancers, and we just made it happen. its honestly crazy to look back at this and consider what’s happened since… almost every dream i had has come true ten times over— yet a lot of them also didn’t - really often my brain will still try to convince me that i genuinely never “made it” or that somehow i’m still failing. teaching this again was truly a full-circle moment. it was a reminder from my student to step back, reconnect with my younger self, and give that 20-year-old kid a hug. maybe I’ll start posting a bit more of my archived work… its probably time to start actually acknowledging the things i’ve done - i guess for the new people in my journey - but mainly for myself - maybe remembering who I was will help guide what I build next…
This has been almost 10 years in the making. I quickly realized I wouldn’t be happy with a low-quality, generic wah enclosure, so I decided to design a custom wah from scratch. One thing I knew I had to fix was the squeaky friction block found in most wah pedals. I designed a brass and stainless steel block with low friction that doesn’t need grease. There are so many upgrades to the mechanical side of things, along with a complete overhaul of the inductor and circuit. This is a classic wah, finessed. #guitarpedals #wahwah #guitar
