Does the stock market have a favorite day of the week? 📅📈 We took 74 years of U.S. stock-market returns and separated them by weekday. All the Monday returns compounded together. All the Tuesday returns compounded together. And so on. Same market. Five very different results. May 1952–August 2026: Wednesday → +3,038% Friday → +1,822% Tuesday → +534% Thursday → +442% Monday → −86% Friday led in the early decades. Wednesday eventually pulled ahead and finished first. Monday was the only weekday to finish below zero, with much of its decline accumulated in the earlier decades. That doesn’t mean stocks fell every Monday—or that Wednesday is the best day to buy. Each line isolates one weekday’s historical returns. No single line shows what a real investor would have earned, and the ranking doesn’t tell us which day will perform best next.
