6 months ago@circuitboredpc you told them main commentor on this thread that he was incorrect and that it depended on the encryption on the drive that would determine if u have to swap the chips. Maybe the issue is that your video makes it seem like u can just swap the boards and its a simple fix.. this is not all that is required and I think the people that know this take issue with giving a "hack" that is incomplete because if jo smoe goes and gets an identical drive to their own trys swaping the boards and wonders why their drive won't even spin up or show up on bios. So yes you did tell someone who was giving CORRECT information they where wrong and on top of that gave a bs excuse of it relying on encryption?! THAT IS FALSE. So since you know what the process is and have done it it may be helpful to give complete and accurate information
6 months agoIt does not work like that. You need to swap the rom in order to be able to actually recover the data out of the drive and even after doing the rom swap the disk reports as unhealthy and it definitely won't be good enough to copy the data out of it using windows alone and all this is on an assumption that the drive would actually mount after all this
6 months agoI appreciate the message of this post, it reminded me to try the same on an old drive with a lot of classic games from my childhood
