. . . . . . . . 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬… 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐲. ❤️👶 Our Story ❤️ In 2020, when I was 15, I met Shrey, who was 16, online through an app called Reach. He was from India 🇮🇳, and I was from Finland 🇫🇮—two teenagers living thousands of kilometres apart who had no idea that a simple online conversation would change our lives. We quickly became part of each other’s everyday lives. We spent almost every day talking, video calling, playing Fortnite, watching movies, and getting to know each other. Because of our age and the COVID pandemic, meeting each other wasn’t possible, so for three years, our relationship existed through a screen. Then, in February 2023, Shrey moved from India to Germany to study. He had been expected to go to Canada, where he already had family, but he convinced his parents to let him choose Germany instead—a country where he knew nobody and didn’t speak the language. A few weeks later, after finishing my final exams, I flew from Finland to Germany to meet him for the first time. After three years of waiting, we were finally in the same place. I stayed for a month before returning to Finland for my graduation. In June, Shrey flew to Finland for my graduation and met my family for the first time. Soon after, I made the decision to move to Germany at 18 so we could finally start our life together. We first lived in a shared flat before finding a small apartment of our own. In November 2024, we travelled to India together, where I finally met Shrey’s relatives and got to see the country he came from. Then, in May 2025, we found out that I was 12 weeks pregnant. Suddenly, our story was becoming a family story. We spent months searching for a bigger home, and just one month before our baby was due, we finally found one. On November 1st, 2025, we gave the keys to our old apartment back—and on that exact same day, our son was born.
A doctor told Max Doppelt that if his mom were Chinese, she could just buy the drug at a pharmacy. So he got on a plane to Shanghai. His mother, Debbie, a 60-year-old New York jeweler, was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer in 2023. By late 2024, it had spread to her brain, and the treatments available in the US weren’t good options for her. Max learned that a targeted drug called sunvozertinib, made by a Chinese company, had already been approved in China. He flew to Shanghai and came home with 26 boxes of the medication, which reportedly cost about $10,000. It made a real difference. Along with a few rounds of radiation and some dose adjustments, the drug has kept Debbie’s cancer largely under control for about 19 months, and she’s kept working through it all. The FDA approved sunvozertinib in July 2025, but it didn’t become available in the US until October 22, 2026 ❤️ Source: KFF Health News / The Washington Post
