Columbus wasn’t simply searching for a new trade route.

His story was tied to the Reconquista, violence against Muslims, the enslavement and killing of Indigenous people, and an ambition to use the wealth from his voyages to fund a campaign for Jerusalem.

So how did a man who committed these atrocities become a celebrated American hero? Watch the full episode with Imam Tom Facchine. Link in Bio.

ARMED ESCALATION in the village of 📌Khalat Baziani in Kirkuk, Iraq.

A gunman targeted a residential home in the village using an RPG (Rocket-Propelled Grenade), causing material damage and widespread panic among local residents. Security forces have ramped up efforts to identify the attacker and investigate the motives behind the strike amid ongoing security challenges in the Kirkuk outskirts.

Note: For context on the mechanics of such an attack, the standard RPG-7 has an effective combat range of up to 500 meters against stationary targets, though irregular engagements typically happen within 100 to 200 meters. Operators must also clear a 15-to-30-meter backblast danger zone behind them to fire safely without suffering severe injury from overpressure and toxic gases.

@jasminejasudavicius reflects on how a piece of gum cost her a $10,000 fine from the athletic commission after her matchup with Karine Silva at UFC Winnipeg 😳

Jasudavicius says that the commission thought she had a pouch in her mouth during the fight when in reality it was a piece of gum.

23rd in the world!! 🌎 🌺

Happy with the result and the day I put together! As I said earlier this week, I had no real expectation other than to learn and enjoy the day so to come away ranked top 25 in the world is awesome!

Kona is truely a different beast. Conditions were brutal on course. I played it safe, kept a lid on my effort and was able to pace a consistent race. Now I’ve got the experience under my belt I’m keen to return to the island again to push and really see what I can do.

But for now I’m looking forward to heading home after a long season away, it’s been a good year but I know I still have a lot more to show. It’s early days and I’m excited for some big seasons ahead!
