Wait… Robots Can Feel Fear Now?! 😱

A small update from my side. During the season I had some pain in my knee that didn’t really go away, and after a while it was clear that training around it wasn’t the solution, so we decided to fix it properly. The operation was this week, it went well, and I’m feeling good.

Now comes the slow part. I wrote some time ago about coming back from injury, and the lesson I will have to keep in mind is the simplest one: get healthy first, then get fit, and only after that get ready for what you want to do next.

So for now the plan is not much of a plan: sleep, eat well, move what I can without bothering the knee, and let it heal at its own pace.

@compex is coming in handy to keep the muscles working while the leg can’t do much on its own.

The skis are already waiting and I’m looking forward to be moving in the mountains again.

Isaac Hayes, Rick James, Barry White and his wife Glodean, Teddy Pendergrass and Edythe Roberts. 1978, under a party tent somewhere between the VIP lounge and the gates of funky heaven.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a guest list. This is a hostile takeover, conducted in satin, gold rings and enough fur to keep a small country warm.

Do the maths. Black Moses, who took an Oscar home for Shaft. Rick James, one album into Motown and three years away from Super Freak, already working the camera like he held the patent. The Walrus of Love, arm in arm with Glodean, who sang in Love Unlimited long before she married the voice. And Teddy, whose concerts got so heated they eventually went ladies only.

Put them in one room and the floor starts moving on its own. Wah-wah guitars. Horns on fire. Strings sweet enough to cause cavities. Bass lines that walk in, loosen their tie and stay till sunrise. Plus a catalogue of bedroom anthems that kept the birth rate healthy for a decade.

The wardrobe? Velvet tuxedos, ruffles, a cravat knotted like a dare. The Louis Vuitton swinging from Teddy’s fingertips while the same arm keeps Edythe close. One hand, two luxuries. Smooth operator.

What gets me, though, is the laughter. Nobody here is performing cool. They know exactly who they are: the people making half the planet dance and the rest of it fall in love. Quite possibly at the same time.

Which made picking a soundtrack for this post close to impossible. Every song that came to mind had five equally funky rivals queuing up behind it. In the end, the crown went to Bad Luck by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes: Philly Soul at full throttle, eleven weeks at the top of the disco chart in 1975, and Teddy singing as if his life, and possibly your love life, depended on it. Yes, a song called Bad Luck, over six people who clearly own all the luck in the world. Too much funk? Never heard of the concept.

It’s Friday, baby. Dress like royalty. Dance like a scandal.
And let the bass finish what Teddy started. 😎

Sumo didi: In a world that constantly tells women how they should look, dress and live their lives, Sumo Didi tells the story of a woman who decides to write her own rules. Based on the life of Hetal Dave, India's first professional female sumo wrestler, this sports biographical drama explores what it means to chase a dream when society has already decided what your limits should be.

Shriyam Bhagnani steps into the role of Hetal, a young woman who faces relentless comments about her weight and pressure to settle down instead of pursuing her ambitions. But Hetal's interest in wrestling takes her down a completely different path. Rather than treating her appearance as a limitation, she discovers a sport where her strength, discipline and determination can become her biggest assets.

Directed by Jayant Rohatgi, the film looks beyond the wrestling ring to explore the everyday pressures that shape Hetal's life. From family expectations to the constant judgement women face about their bodies, her story reflects a struggle that extends far beyond sports. The film also features Chaitanya Sharma, Anubha Fatehpura, Nitesh Pandey and Raghav Dhir in key roles.

What makes Hetal's journey interesting is that she isn't simply trying to win a championship. She is also trying to build a life on her own terms in a world that keeps asking her to fit into someone else's idea of normal.

Sumo Didi brings an important conversation about body image, women's choices and self-belief into the spotlight, making it an interesting watch for those who enjoy stories about breaking stereotypes.
