What often goes unspoken is how constant and mentally demanding writing a book really is. An author doesn’t just “sit down and write”—they carry ideas, plot problems, and character arcs in their head all day while managing normal responsibilities like work, relationships, and daily tasks. There’s a constant push and pull between creativity and real life, along with self-doubt, pressure to be original, and deep emotional investment in the story. Most of this effort is invisible, making it seem far simpler than it actually is.
