I’m from Ottawa and live in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦
Growing up, I was always creative but what I wanted to be was an author. I’m a voracious reader (mostly audiobooks now-a-days while I paint) and while I dabble in most genres, I always go back to fantasy (leave me some book recommendations!!)
Some of my fave books are:
- Literally anything by Brandon Sanderson
- This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews (newest fave!)
- The Devils by Joe Abercrombie
- Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
- The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson
- Dungeon Crawler Carl Series by Matt Dinniman
- The Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs (I’ve loved it since high school haha)
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
- Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown
- Eragon by Christopher Paoloni (my gateway drug into reading as a teen)
And sooo many more haha (add me on Goodreads!)
My love for writing had me pursue a journalism degree from Carleton University, which I now use to write social media content 😜🙃 I’m mostly a self-taught artist but did attend an incredible year at the Ottawa School of Art @artottawa from 2020-2021 for their year long portfolio certificate program and it was life-changing.
I have an amazing life partner, Sheldon, and an adorably weird Australian Shepherd, Moxie, my soul dog.
I co-own @siennatoronto a residential painting company with my partner and run my home studio in every available moment around that.
I always take a photo of the sunset. Always.🌞
Aside from painting, I love to spend my time and money on plane tickets, gardening, adventures for my dog, unique dinners, backcountry camping and finding weird home decor on Facebook Marketplace or Etsy lol.
I have new painting and print releases a couple of times a year and the first people who hear about them are the lovely souls subscribed to my email list 💌 If you’d like to be in the first-to-know club, head to my website and scroll to the bottom to subscribe to my email list! Hi @hannahmichellestudios! The IG feed led me too you and I’m loving it. You art is so gorgeous. I’m an Ottawa kid moved to Montreal and did a minor in fine art way back. I have been wanting to return to paining and am super inspired by you! At one point I did little paintings of foods that I managed to sell, somewhat like your little square ones, but yours just pop and look so tasty! The underpainting is so brilliant, and your skill is remarkable. I’m curious what brand of paints you use? What are your go to colours?

@hannahmichellestudios havent read the Emperor's Soul in audiobook, but the novella is a perfect bite ebook, that I loved enough to buy a hardcopy that can never be taken from me, and now push on everyone I know like a dealer. Its a really lovely and thoughtful while also being super interesting set up and fast paced (and I love a female lead). I was super pleased to see Sanderson included it in his "Intro to my books" bundle

@hannahmichellestudios and my favorite Sanderson book is "The Emperor's Soul" - read it?

@hannahmichellestudios I read it over Easter, then IMMEDIATELY started re-reading it. My April has been that book and then Pursuit of Jade, after Ilona recommended it on their blog. Even though only half of the show had airred when she recommended it, it was funny to see some parallels between the show and This Kingdom...
