Harrison Ford is an American actor best known for playing Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Born in 1942, Ford struggled to establish himself in Hollywood and worked as a carpenter before his breakthrough in American Graffiti (1973). He later starred in classics such as Blade Runner, The Fugitive, Air Force One, and Witness, earning an Academy Award nomination for the latter. Remarkably, he became one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars without following the traditional muscular action-hero formula.

One surprising fact is that Ford is also a licensed pilot who has flown airplanes and helicopters for decades, including participating in real-life search-and-rescue operations. He reportedly helped install cabinets at George Lucas’s offices before becoming Han Solo, although he had already worked professionally as an actor. Ford is also famous for his dry humor and famously grumpy interview persona. Few actors have managed to play two of cinema’s most iconic heroes while giving the impression they’d rather be home fixing a kitchen cabinet.
