Danger selfie in Western Australia 📍
While diving off the coast of Denham, I came face to face with an incredible jellyfish — perfectly round with insanely long tentacles trailing beneath it. Looks peaceful… but those tentacles pack a serious sting. Not deadly, but definitely not something you want to test 😅
This is one of those moments where the ocean reminds you who’s in charge. Calm, beautiful… and capable of ruining your day in seconds. Still, getting this close (carefully) was unreal.
Fun Facts:
• Many jellyfish don’t actively hunt — they drift and let their tentacles do the work
• Their tentacles are covered in thousands of microscopic stinging cells (nematocysts)
• Even a light brush can cause intense pain and irritation
• Some species can regenerate and are considered biologically “immortal”
• Jellyfish have no brain, heart, or bones — just a simple nerve net
• Tentacles can still sting even after being detached
