The Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, or Tanjore Temple, was built by Chola Emperor Raja Raja I between 1003 and 1010 CE. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a masterpiece of Dravidian architecture, featuring a 66m tall granite tower (vimana) and a massive 80-ton dome.
