When Isha Ambani couldn’t submit her college homework in 2010 due to poor internet in Mumbai, it sparked a frustrating realization: India’s digital infrastructure was lagging behind. That single, annoying dropped connection led to a conversation between the Ambani siblings—and eventually birthed Reliance Jio. Today, the company that started with a missed deadline is heading toward the biggest IPO in Indian history. Never underestimate the power of a tech frustration! ⚡
When @diego Boneta's friends heard he would take on the challenge of playing authoritarian leader, Fidel Castro, onscreen, they were adamant: “Don’t play Fidel. It’s way too risky. He’s our Hitler. Don’t do it.” The actor had been cast in the film ‘Killing Castro,’ which also stars Al Pacino and premiered at the Tribeca Festival this summer. But despite the warnings—or maybe because of them—Boneta did it anyway. American audiences might know Boneta for playing lighter roles in 2012’s ‘Rock of Ages’ or in 2015’s ‘Scream Queens,’ but the Mexican heartthrob was excited by the challenge of embodying the Communist dictator with a complicated history. And given that he's no stranger to playing real-life characters (he last starred as the Mexican singer Luis Miguel in the hit Netflix series of the same name), he understood the responsibility of the role in front of him. “From the very beginning, I knew what this meant—how serious it was for what Fidel represents,” he says. “It’s the biggest challenge I’ve ever had as an actor, and also the most rewarding one. But I didn’t know that when I first decided to jump in.” For Hispanic Heritage Month, Boneta sat down with ELLE to talk about the acting, history, and dialect training he underwent to channel the Cuban dictator.
I always look forward to the days I get to spend with my fellow YGLs @worldeconomicforum #AGMFL2026 The last few days have been so fulfilling, rejuvenating, and full of purpose. There’s something incredibly special about being in a room with people who are doing extraordinary things across different fields, yet share a common desire to make the world a better place. I always walk away with newer ideas, exciting possibilities, potential collaborations, and friendships that I know will stay with me for a long time. A YGL is always a call away, any city, any time :) This year was extra special because I graduated and officially became a YGL Alumni, Class of 2024. While one chapter may have come to a close, the journey, the learning, and the community continue. These are the people who give you wings and encourage you to fly, while also keeping you grounded when you need it most. And perhaps that’s what makes this community so special, you leave feeling inspired by what others are doing, challenged to do more yourself, and reminded of how much there still is to learn. Grateful for the people, the purpose, the friendships, and all that lies ahead. The journey continues. ❤️
