Tate McRae says being a pop star is a "mindf--k." The singer is on the cover of W Magazine and opens up about becoming one of the major pop girlies of the moment, calling it "the craziest, most overwhelming experience ever." "There are just so many ideas that people project onto you," she said. "Being a girl is hard enough." As she gets more and more famous, she's also having to navigate being the center of attention all the time. She says by the end of her most recent tour, "I literally could not look in the mirror... You really have to make a conscious effort to not turn into the worst person ever." ▶️ Swipe for more from Tate and head to the link in bio 🔗 to read her full interview with W. (📸: Getty Images, Juergen Teller/W Magazine)
On October 12, 1987, “So Emotional was released as the third single from Whitney’s second album “Whitney”. The song was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly (who also wrote “Like a Virgin” for Madonna and “True Colors” for Cyndi Lauper). It was a commercial success, peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it became her sixth consecutive number one, breaking a record originally set by Elvis Presley two decades earlier (!) and tying her with The Beatles and The Bee Gees for the most consecutive number one singles at the time. A remixed version by Junior Vasquez and Shep Pettibone later sent the song to #1 on the Dance Club Play chart. This lyric video was done several years ago.
