A shocking incident was recently brought to light on Kòkòrò Alate, a popular programme on Agidigbo 88.7FM Ibadan.
A male teenager learning tailoring called into the show and accused his boss, Farouk, a young man in his early 20s, of repeatedly engaging in inappropriate sexual acts with him. The revelation left listeners and the studio team stunned.
During the live broadcast, the stand-in anchor, Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim, questioned Farouk about the allegations. After initially hesitating, he admitted to the acts, stating they began shortly after the holy month of Ramadan and had occurred multiple times.
The teenager further alleged that he had informed other apprentices in the same workshop, some of whom reportedly claimed they had similar experiences, although Farouk denied those additional accusations.
When asked what influenced his actions, Farouk explained that he had been exposed to explicit same-sex content sent to him via social media, which he said contributed to his behavior. He expressed regret and pleaded with Nigerians for forgiveness.
Farouk’s father, who was present in the studio, expressed deep disappointment, describing the situation as a serious stain on the family’s reputation. He noted that his son was often withdrawn and avoided social gatherings, preferring to remain at his tailoring shop.
The programme host emphasized that the matter falls under Nigerian law and is beyond the authority of the station to resolve internally. Subsequently, a staff member called Ọla of the station was instructed to escort Farouk to the police for further investigation. Reports monitored by Garmc Blog indicate that he has since been handed over to law enforcement authorities.
The host also advised parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children and wards, stressing the importance of monitoring their behavior, environment, and associations.
You can catch Kòkòrò Alate live every Wednesday and Friday from 8:15pm to 11:00pm on Agidigbo 88.7FM Ibadan, as well as on their Facebook and YouTube platforms. The show is widely known for addressing family and social issues across Nigeria and beyond.
