♾️🌈 April is Autism Acceptance Month! Throughout the month, DNA will post perspectives on autism contributed by autistic members of our community.
This contribution is about navigating autistic social differences.
[Image Description: A graphic sharing an anonymous DNA member's perspective on being autistic. Brightly coloured drawings help illustrate the message, including: blank speech bubbles, diverse people hanging out, a plant growing, and people celebrating each other.
Slide 1 reads: "Social skills can be challenging for me, and I’m still working on improving them."
Slide 2 reads: "It’s not about a lack of care or effort, it just takes more time and practice to navigate social situations that others may find intuitive."
Slide 3 reads: "I hope people can be accepting and patient. Many autistic people are constantly learning and growing."
Slide 4: "And understanding, respect, and clear communication can make a big difference." - Anonymous]
