Wearing a stretch PU fitted gown with tall slits and fabric pinching manipulation at the front and cowl back neckline front + back. Screen printed with my custom Hustlr Energy logo.
This piece was heavily influenced by my admiration for Lauren’s beauty and baddiness. When I started to think of how I wanted to outfit her, I’m like this is it, this is the spot where I’ll get in a long, gorgeous gown. But not just any gown. we want the elements to make a statement. It felt special to have a long, elegant dress that has a bold statement screen print on it to juxtapose the elegance and harshness. I had originally slotted the fabric for this outfit to be in a lightweight jersey, but then the fabric gods gifted me once again with this beautiful role of shiny stretch pleather fabric that just made the most sense to make this dress in. When it comes to the design details of this gown, I love every part. starting from top to bottom we have a cowl neckline at the front and back secured with a control strap @ back so that you can tie it to keep the dress on your shoulders, but still maintain the wide neck line. Moving down, I made sure that the waist was fitted and snatched, but also supported with two straps inserted at the side seams so that the wearer can either let them hang down or use the straps to make the dress as fitted as they want. The sleeves are pieced with a black jersey back to the shiny pleather. This was one of those moments that I really appreciated the process of my craft and the evolution that comes with unexpected hiccups or mistakes. I ended up piecing the sleeves because I had run out of fabric, but this element of adding in a second fabric ended up becoming one of my favorite parts about this gown. As for the dress and sleeve lengths I went extra long and dramatic. I wanted to make sure that my model could walk the runway in this look and not trip on the dress. This element influenced the fabric pinching manipulation. Lauren was mesmerizing in this look an super dedicated to helping me as my only outfit change of the show! #slayed
