From the other side of the holy Gatekeeping Gate, this is my review of the Fresh Finds event at Rough Trade Liverpool on April 24th, 2026…
I like to think of the Gate moving from venue to venue across the world, summoned by the aura of unsuspecting talent about to make it big. It materialises behind the venue’s bouncers like the TARDIS, and is drawn gracefully open by the souls of pre-Stranger Things Kate Bush fans. The gate was opened to me and my cousin, Roisin (@roisinmccauleymusic), and we were welcomed into a night of high-energy, sincere fun as we witnessed camaraderie across four bands—Supermarket, Wholegrain, The Tusks, and XL Poncho.
