Crazy to think mouthwash can be increasing your blood pressure. But it’s true.

The “kills 99.9% of bacteria” mouthwash is doing exactly that. Including the bacteria that you actually need. Some of them turn leafy greens into nitric oxide, the molecule that helps your blood vessels relax. Wipe them out every night and you’re quietly working against yourself.

For daily use, look for sodium fluoride (NaF) or hydroxyapatite (HAP). NaF vs HAP is its own conversation, one I’ll save for another day. Look for nitrate, arginine, or xylitol. Your mouth and blood pressure might thank you.

Chlorhexidine still a has a place IMO around a procedure, an active infection, or when your dentist hands it to you #oralcavity #smile #dentist #microbiome #mouthwash

Your mouth is an ecosystem. Let’s treat it like one.
