House Diaries, episode 3… and possibly the beginning of the end of my sanity 😂 It’s all very well deciding to renovate an entire house… until you remember you actually have to LIVE somewhere while they rewire, replumb and generally take the place apart. Charlie’s solution? A static caravan in the garden. Naturally I went straight to @kevin.mccloud1 hoping he’d tell me this was a terrible idea. Instead he said we should absolutely stay on site AND suggested adding a shed for the washing machine, wellies and coats. Thanks Kevin!!!! Very helpful 😂 Charlie is now fully committed to caravan life. I pointed out that I do still have to go to work looking vaguely presentable. So there we are. My one non-negotiable is Christmas. I am NOT spending Christmas in a static caravan. I’ve clearly been outnumbered. The current plan is to get as much of the outside done as possible and potentially move into our new luxury accommodation around March… Would you do it?! Be honest…
Ancient Egyptians built pyramids primarily as tombs for their pharaohs, whom they believed would continue living in the afterlife. The pyramids were designed to protect royal remains and burial goods while helping the deceased king achieve eternal life. Their enormous size also demonstrated the pharaoh’s wealth, power, and divine authority. The most famous examples, the Pyramids of Giza, were constructed roughly 4,500 years ago, with the Great Pyramid built for Pharaoh Khufu. Interestingly, pyramids were not built primarily by slaves, as commonly portrayed in movies. Archaeological evidence indicates that their construction involved thousands of organized workers, including skilled laborers and rotating crews who received food and accommodation. The Egyptians also developed impressive engineering techniques to transport and position massive stone blocks. Essentially, the pharaohs wanted an impressive final resting place and ended up creating monuments so extraordinary that humanity is still arguing about how they were built thousands of years later. Honestly I don’t want a new year … I want a gently used one .. maybe 2018 ? Or even 1995 ??
