This isn’t a one-off story.

Let me walk you through the math they’re hoping no one checks.

A patient with Type 1 diabetes — not Type 2, Type 1 — which means her body produces zero insulin.
None. Ever.

Her endocrinologist prescribes 50 units per day.

That’s 1,500 units per month.

One vial of insulin?
1,000 units.

So when insurance approves one vial, they are approving 20 days of survival…
and leaving 10 days completely uncovered.

And before anyone says “well, maybe she can stretch it” —
she already is.

Cutting doses.
Rationing.
Trying to make it last.

Do you understand what that means for someone with Type 1 diabetes?

Blood sugar climbs.
Risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Hospitalization.
Death.

So this isn’t a paperwork issue.
This isn’t a “minor inconvenience.”

👉 “How many units of insulin per month does my plan actually cover?”

Then compare it to what’s prescribed.

Because the difference between those two numbers?
