Before I’d ever met @619iamlucha or started working with him as a client, people told me he’s:

Humble.
Kind.
Generous.
Patient.
Gracious.
Appreciative.
Fully present.
Has zero ego…

And he’s proven to be all those things and more.

Rey is a lifelong student and approaches things with a white belt mentality, always wanting to learn and improve.

As a coach there is no greater joy than working with someone like this.

We had a great session that started with numerous warm up, prehab, rehab and mobility drills.

And we finished with some other exercises not shown here.

One thing I wanted to impart on Rey, and everyone reading this who is over 40, is…

Treat every rep as something that’s rehabilitative.

Yes, everyone wants the aesthetic benefits. But proper training should also heal you and make you feel better…

Not beat the sh*t of you.

Leave your ego at the door.

Get into an almost Buddhist monk like state of focus on every inch of every rep.

Take an extra 15-30 seconds to get your set up locked in, prior to starting each set.

Take a small pause in both end ranges of each rep.

Don’t use momentum.

Don’t do sloppy reps.

Don’t chase weight and numbers. Chase better form and stimulus. Eventually the weights are going to have to go up.

But forcing it too soon is what leads to injury.

When you make these changes to your training you can feel dramatically better within weeks.

Train smarter.

This is a lifelong pursuit.

Not a quick fix that you need to rush.

I finished the Farseer Trilogy, and this is what I thought of it… 🐺 🐺 🐺

I suffer from forgetfulness when it comes to books, but if I loved a book, the feelings and the characters stick with me. I’m not sure I’ll ever forget these characters and how I felt through this book.

Have you heard these books are slow? They are. Somehow, they still managed to grip me entirely.

Assassin’s Apprentice felt so much like Great Expectations to me, with Fitz reminding me of Pip. And the pacing is similar as well as the purpose. A deep, slow dive into characters. I fell so completely in love with Fitz, the Fool and Verity. I hated the villain so much I fumed.

Royal Assassin was a slow start for me. At times I grew frustrated, and then at the end, I felt like I saw the book through a whole new set of eyes. Scenes with characters that once made me mad, became such clear moments of character development once I saw where we ended. And speaking of ending… ‼️‼️‼️I will never forget the way the Royal Assassin ending made me feel. I was in tears and amped up at the same time. I cried just telling my husband about the epilogue. It was beautifully heartbreaking and powerful! So powerful!

The themes of loneliness, grief and looking for a sense of belonging are so profound that I feel like anyone who has experienced any of those sentiments will relate to Fitz and root for him whole-heartedly.

I will admit that I struggled a little in Assassin’s Quest, but I loved the ending and the completion of these character arcs. In my mind, I’ve made my own decisions of what these characters went on to do, because I just can’t stop thinking about them, and I love them so much.

I cannot wait for Liveships. I may have indulged in a special edition so I hope I love it as much! Thank you @sisterofthesonofares and @jieunreads for kickstarting this journey, even if you coaxed me with the promise of a steamy, romantic slow burn 🤣🫠

Have you read Farseer? Any plans? What’s the last book that made you feel the way royal assassin made me feel?
