Yo. This is what it felt like when I found out my ferritin was in the TRIPLE DIGITS after being a FOUR. I have shared a bit of my iron deficiency without anemia story on stories and in-feed but I wanted to share more of the story today. Also, because the American Society of Hematology recently updated their Guidelines for Diagnosis of Iron Deficiency My ferritin was 4, and my hemoglobin was totally normal. If you'd only looked at that second number, you would've sent me home 🩸 For about a year I had palpitations, exercise intolerance, exhaustion that naps didn't fix, restless nights, hair shedding, and brain fog so bad a 1-hour task took me 4. I blamed anxiety, perimenopause, and being a working mom of two. I even had a cardiology appointment booked. Then after appointments with GI and doing some detective work, I found out my ferritin was a 4. My hematologist and I decided IV iron made sense for me. Within days the palpitations were gone and I made it through a workout without gasping 🏃‍♀️ So yes, for me an iron infusion was what my body needed. But this is my story, not everyone's. Oral iron is often tried first, not everyone needs an infusion, and every option comes with real benefits and real risks. How fast people feel better varies a lot. Those choices belong in a talk with your clinician, especially for kids. In my newsletter I break it all down: ✔️ a simple way to understand ferritin vs. hemoglobin ✔️ the new ferritin cutoffs and what the 2026 AAP report means for kids and teens ✔️ easy-to-miss signs in kids, like restless sleep and ice chewing ✔️ when to ask your pediatrician about a ferritin check (and when not to) ✔️ why finding the cause matters as much as the treatment Comment IRON and I'll send you this week's free newsletter issue: "I had brain fog, palpitations, restless sleep, and hair loss and I thought it was anxiety...it wasn't. " Iron deficiency is NOT the answer for everyone's symptoms and the newsletter discusses some advocacy pieces I want all of you to have. Have you ever been told your labs were "normal" but something still felt off? 👇
Sometimes, things happen in our lives, and we don’t understand why at that moment. It may take a few days, a few months, or even years before we look back and say, “Oh, now I understand why this had to happen. Perhaps this was meant to happen through me. Perhaps this was what I was meant to do.” ❤️ What I have understood about myself is that I am not perfect. I have many shades to my personality, many flaws, and thoughts that I am not always proud of. And perhaps that is what makes me human. I am not a divine being, free of imperfections. But when I stand before my God and Goddess, I want to stand there truthfully, without pretending to be someone I am not. I want to acknowledge my limitations, accept my mistakes, and even admit the negative thoughts that cross my mind. And then, with all my heart, I want to ask them, “Make me better. Not overnight, not miraculously, but through a process. Hold my hand, guide me, and help me become a better human being, one step at a time.” 🙏❤️ Because having negative thoughts does not make us bad people. We are human, and our minds are bound to have their moments of weakness. What matters is whether we allow those thoughts to control us or learn to recognise them, understand them, and choose how we respond. Perhaps that is where true wisdom lies—not in being free of imperfections, but in having the courage to acknowledge them and the willingness to grow beyond them. @sogasari

Here’s how I take my close-up mirror selfies 😍📸 💌 Comment SELFIE and I’ll send you my FREE Selfie Guide with more easy tricks to help you take better photos of yourself! I love how a few small camera adjustments can make an ordinary mirror selfie look like a professional beauty shot! Here’s exactly what I used for this one: 📱 5x zoom for that beautiful close-up. ☀️ Exposure -0.7 to make the photo a little darker and bring out the details. ✨ Dramatic filter at 20 for a soft, moody finish without overdoing it. 🪞 Hold your phone close to your face, play with the framing and let part of your face hide behind the phone. Try it next time you’re standing in front of a mirror and see the difference! Save this so you can try these settings later 🤍
2️⃣ completely separate gene mRNA strands spliced together to make a new protein 😳🤯 What in the molecular biology?! 🫪 New research out of Harvard published in Nature shows that inflammation causes macrophages to bring far away DNA 🧬 together to co-express genes and then splice their mRNA strands together ✂️ Is it possible this is just the first cell type we will discover this happening in?!
