Judy Garland and Ray Bolger in The Wizard of Oz (1939)
In the 1930s, Samuel Goldwyn paid author Frank L. Baum’s estate $40,000 for the film rights. He’d planned his own production but it never got off the ground. Then Louis B. Mayer bought the rights from Goldwyn for $75,000 in June 1938 ($1.7mil adjusted for inflation, 2025)

You will never find anybody as talented as Ray bolger and he could dance so great he was just so so good and talented at the dance that he did on wizard of Oz. Rest in peace Ray rest in peace Judy.
