HYROX Barcelona 🇪🇸🤎 This one felt different.
Not because it was easier, but because of everything it represented.
As a young Black woman, so much of my journey has been about breaking cycles, pushing through barriers, and finding the courage to take up space in rooms I never thought I belonged in. I’ve spent years working to heal generational wounds, challenge limiting beliefs, and become the first in my family to do things no one before me imagined possible.
HYROX is one of those things.
There was a time when I could never have pictured myself here…competing, challenging myself, and pushing my body and mind beyond limits I thought were fixed. Yet here I am, setting a standard not only for myself, but for the generations that will come after me.
This second solo race carried a different intention. This year is bringing a lot of change. I’m facing the loss of things I’ve worked incredibly hard to build, including relationships, community, and a home that became part of who I am. There are many things ahead that I cannot control.
But this became something I could.
Every training session, every early morning, every uncomfortable moment, every step across that finish line reminded me that I am stronger than the circumstances around me. When life feels uncertain, this gave me something solid to hold onto. Something that kept me grounded. Something that reminded me who I am.
This race wasn’t just about fitness.
It was about resilience.
It was about healing.
It was about proving to myself that I belong in every room I walk into.
And it was about becoming the woman younger me needed to see.
Barcelona, thank you for being part of a chapter I’ll never forget. ❤️💛❤️
Here’s to continuing to break barriers, rewrite stories, and make space for those who come next. 🤎
