I didn’t grow up with a dad. He abandoned me as a kid, and when I was 23, he finally admitted he wanted nothing to do with me. Imagine hearing that from someone who was supposed to love you unconditionally. But you know who stayed? My stepmom, Wendi.

She came into my life when I was 7 and became the parent I never had. She saved us from physical and sexual abuse from my stepdad, a man who made our lives feel unsafe and painful. I guess you could say Wendi was the Luffy in my story.

She gave us safety, warmth, love, and a real home. She taught me how to respect people, stand up against injustice, care deeply for others, and love with my whole heart. Because of her, I became the man I am today.

My whole life has been surrounded by the LGBTQ+ community. I have two moms, a gay brother, and a trans brother who I love endlessly. So seeing people claim to love One Piece while spreading hate, homophobia, or transphobia honestly shocks me.

We didn’t watch the same story. Oda publicly supports the LGBTQ+, so do you also hate the man who created the show we all love so dearly??

One Piece has always been about freedom, protecting the oppressed, and fighting for people’s right to exist. The community I am building will always be a safe place for anyone and everyone. I do not care who you are, where you come from, who you love, or how you identify. You belong here. I will always fight for the people I care about. I will always stand beside those who feel alone. I will always protect people who need protecting.

Because that’s what Luffy would do ❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🌈
