It’s finally here: the opening for my solo exhibition, INTERSECTION: Photography by Emma Kruch, is happening today from 3-6 pm at @carter_andco ‼️

Photography isn’t just my job — it’s how I move through the world. INTERSECTION grew out of a desire to share the beauty, process and aftermath, humor, messiness, and above all the JOY I find in everyday life. I’m a chronic documentarian, as I never leave the house without a camera of some sort, so it felt essential to show both digital
and film photography; the intersection of work and play and how they intermingle and evolve over time.

My subjects and surroundings, from northern California to the Midwest and beyond, are a deeply personal source of inspiration. Those I photograph on assignment are oftentimes the very people I socialize with. INTERSECTION is that overlap made visible: family, friends, and clients coexisting in one room, as they do in my world.

So much of how people encounter my photography is restricted to an Instagram grid, or perhaps sized for a magazine or book page. I hope that INTERSECTION’s scale paired with the evocative nature of my work wakes up a sense of wonder in its viewers, and reminds us all to celebrate the authenticity and goodness that surrounds us.

I could not be more proud to share this truly collaborative show with my community and the many helping hands that made it possible. Hope to see many of you! Can’t make it tonight but still want to view? The show will hang through July 6.

Fun fact: Mark Ruffalo once accidentally live-streamed the first 15–20 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok because he forgot to turn off Instagram Live after walking onto the red carpet.

He put his phone in his pocket thinking the stream had ended, but thousands of fans were still listening as the movie started playing inside the theatre.

The funny part is that Marvel is famous for extreme secrecy, so one of its biggest accidental leaks came from the actor who plays the Hulk simply forgetting to press one button. 📱💚😂
