The Gish Gallop is a debate tactic named after creationist Duane Gish, who would flood opponents with falsehoods and half-truths faster than they could be refuted. It works because of what's known as Brandolini's Law: the energy needed to refute a false claim is an order of magnitude greater than the energy needed to produce one.

Russia formalized this into a state-level propaganda strategy. RAND researchers identified it during the 2014 Crimea annexation and called it “firehosing.” It’s the use of a high volume of continuous falsehoods with no commitment to consistency. The goal isn't to convince, but rather to overwhelm, confuse, and destabilize.

P.S. The term "Gish Gallop" for a debate tactic cracks me up.

Nice exemple of someone using the Gish gallup while seemingly denouncing it!

Everyone needs to watch The Social Reckoning to see just how Mark Zuckerberg and Meta are complicit when it comes to spreading falsehoods online

Yes, because we’re in a slow moving coup. Little too late for this video.

I want to know how did Russia build a system to absorb these ideas and systems, innovate them , and redeploy in its own way. They suck at making cars and space / aviation is kind of dead for them too. They still rely on tech from the 60sand 70s for the most part (other than the new drone warfare) . Why is this the one thing they can do well? Why do they seem to have a competitive advantage in this ?

Cognitive Warfare. Is not a Russian speciality. In fact the leading experts are the British Military Intelligence who set up Cambridge Analytica, a campaign organisation that influenced 100 democratic elections over a period of 5 years leading up to Brexit and Trump in 2016…..
