Baltimore Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man Sunday evening on Upmanor Road.
Officers responded around 7 p.m. on May 24 to reports of gunfire in the unit block of Upmanor Road. After searching the area, officers found 25-year-old Zion James Clayton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a rear area behind the block.
Medics responded to the scene, but Clayton was pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital.
The killing comes less than two months after prosecutors dropped murder and firearm charges previously filed against Clayton in connection with the January 2025 death shooting on Oakley Avenue. Court records show the case was dismissed after investigators were unable to locate a key witness.
Following the dismissal hearing, Clayton reportedly stated that he “didn’t do it.”
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have not announced any arrests.
