There are some things in life we have to grieve that we never actually had.

The marriage we thought we’d have by now. The children we hoped for. The career opportunity that didn’t come. The version of life we imagined we’d be living at this age.

And sometimes that grief is hard to explain because nothing was necessarily taken from us. It’s simply that something we deeply wanted never happened.

In this conversation with @anniefdowns , we talked about the importance of making room to grieve the life you thought you’d have.

Because you can be grateful for the life God has given you and still feel sadness over the things you hoped would be part of it.

Both can be true.

And sometimes moving forward doesn’t begin with telling yourself to get over it. It begins with giving yourself permission to acknowledge what you’ve lost, even if that loss was a dream that never became reality.

You don’t have to pretend it didn’t matter in order to trust God with what comes next.

We talked more about navigating grief, unmet expectations, and trusting God when life looks different than we imagined on the podcast.

2027: I’m The Commander Of FCT Election Field Operations, I’ll Coordinate Tinubu’s Campaign In FCT And Rivers State — Minister Nyesom Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared himself the commander of field operations for the 2027 elections in the FCT, saying he will coordinate President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaigns in the territory and Rivers State.

Wike spoke on Monday at a Rainbow Coalition stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, where members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agreed to work together ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I am in charge of the FCT election. I am the commander of field operations as far as the FCT election is concerned,” he said.

He added, “For the presidency, all of us have agreed that it is Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I am going to coordinate the FCT and Rivers State. So you can imagine how important it is.”

Wike urged members of both parties to put aside their political differences.

“I want to let all of you know that we are going to work together. Nobody should say, ‘I am PDP’ or ‘I am APC.’ For the purpose of this election, we are together,” he said.

At the meeting, PDP candidates for National Assembly seats in the FCT declared support for APC candidates. The coalition also agreed to back Tinubu’s re-election and APC candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives, while leaving other contests to the respective parties.

Wike cited the 2024 Edo governorship election as an example of how cross-party alliances could influence election outcomes.

He highlighted FCT projects, including road construction, school renovations and police stations, as well as the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission and the Women Affairs and Youth Development Secretariats.

He challenged critics to identify any of the FCT’s six area councils that had not benefited from the administration’s projects.

Wike defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, acknowledging the temporary hardship they had caused but insisting they were necessary. He also reiterated his support for state police to tackle insecurity.
