Do you do this with your shoulder? I see this common error a lot! Now, to be clear, your shoulder should start retracting as you lower but it SHOULD NOT WING! Why? A wing reflects a weak recruitment of the SERRATUS ANTERIOR that attaches to the anterior medial border of the scapula. BUT sometimes it's just a mind-body thing where you didn't know that you were doing this. Take the camera and film your back while doing this movement and then you will know.
