In 2012, Icelandic TV channel Stöð 2 accidentally aired an episode of “Teletubbies” with subtitles from HBO’s “The Sopranos,” creating one of the strangest broadcast mixups ever. Instead of children’s dialogue, viewers suddenly saw subtitles referencing arguments from Season 4 of the mafia series.

At the time, a viewer photographed the screen and posted the images on Facebook, where the mistake became a local viral story in Iceland. But in early 2026, the screenshots resurfaced online after someone shared them with AI-generated English translations, allowing people around the world to finally understand just how absurd the subtitles really were.
